Tutoring Art

The Community Art Classes

I have been tutoring art groups for almost eight years. My students range in ages between 10 and 100 years old. As a qualified artist, I tutor art because I find it satisfying to pass on my knowledge of drawing and painting to new artists. The benefits are in seeing people enjoy art and improve. There is a community spirit that emerges in these classes.

Kate the studio owner, is an artist herself and is highly supportive of the classes held in her shop. We even participate in the monthly street markets, where people passing by comment on the student work.

The Aged Care Art Activity

At the aged care home where I run a regular art activity, creativity flows at any age. In fact, it may be the only time that residents come out of their units. They look forward to the activity.

Pat – a cottage in woods is a familiar place.

Working on our mental health

There is enough evidence to show that there is a link between practicing art and good mental health. Any creative activity has the ability to relax a person and let them forget about their troubles for a moment.

Art tunes us into the moment where observation and manual creative skills are the main focus. I find watching nature and painting those scenes very peaceful.

One of my favorite watercolors – Crimson Rosellas in the bird bath – Sold.
